​Our Story

At Word & Wonder, we believe deeply in the importance of the individual learner. Founded by Danielle, an experienced teacher with over 13 years in the education sector, our mission is simple: to provide high-quality, nurturing and flexible tuition that helps young people thrive academically and personally.

What began as a small tutoring venture has grown into a tiny team of experts. We are all united by a shared belief: every student deserves to feel capable and supported in their learning.

We take a very holistic approach to tuition: our work isn't just about developing skills and knowledge but in nurturing a growth mindset, self-confidence and independent learning skills. We do not believe in 'one-size fits all' tutoring and create bespoke packages to meet each student's needs.

We are more than just teachers — we are subject specialists with current classroom expertise. All of our team work as examiners or teachers in schools, which ensures that we stay at the forefront of:

Our Approach

We believe that learning should build both confidence and independence.

Every student is different, so we take the time to understand their goals, their challenges and the way they learn best. For some, that means a little mentoring and feedback; for others, regular structured sessions and close guidance.

We are also passionate advocates for the power of oracy — helping students to articulate their ideas clearly and confidently as a pathway to better written work and deeper understanding. We are fortunate to be able to capitalise on this in our group sessions.
